You are the Light of Jesus

May 27, 2022

Is being the light of Jesus in this world important to Him? Yes, it is.
Jesus said this in:
Matthew 5: 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Jesus calls us to be his light before people. The question is how does Jesus want his disciples to shine His light in this world? Jesus teaches what our light should look like.

John 8: 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

Jesus said those who follow him become his light in this dark world. So, your light is following Jesus’ teachings and commandments and exampling what Jesus and his apostle’s did in the Bible that glorified God. So, our words and actions become the light of Jesus in this world.

That is why Jesus commissioned his apostles to go make disciples by completely soaking them to know the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit and obey his teaching.

Matthew 28: 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

When we are completely soaked in knowing the name of God and obey Jesus’ teachings and commandments, we become the light of Jesus doing his Father’s will and glorifying him in this world. Being the light of Jesus is not guessing or assuming or feeling what Jesus wants you to do. As disciples of Christ, we know what to do by the Holy Spirit recalling it to us.

Our light will expose the darkness in this world and does not condemn but live a life that glorifies Jesus by doing what pleases God and that is to love as Jesus has loved us.

When we gather as the body of Christ, we are not like the world that lives in darkness. We are the one light of Jesus who know, understand, and obey Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

When we shine the light of Jesus in this world it is with the heart desire of God that all repent and be saved and not perish. We do not condemn people of their sins because then we become hypocrites of our own sins.

Our light is God’s love expressed by our good deeds is so that those who are seeking God can find him in the darkness of this world so when they ask you of the hope you have you can share the gospel and invite them to come to the Father who loves them.

Our light must be with an attitude to save people because it is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6: 2 For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.

Spiritual wisdom tells us that the light we shine the world will not understand that it is our of our love for God, but out of love we always forgive them and remain steadfast that our light is to glorify Jesus and to save people and never to show our righteousness as a Christian.

Paul teaches how our light should shine before others.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Our light is to daily lead a quiet life that minds its own business and to work with our hands which will win the respect of unbelievers who God may open their heart to ask you about your faith.
We must always be ready and prepared because our light may be tested for being a Christian and be judged by the way the world falsely sees a Christian. But our confidence does not stand secure on the world’s judgment but that of Jesus’ judgment of the light we shine for him.
Be the light of Christ always,
Ps. Glenn
