Worshipping God from the Heart - Not Appearance

April 3, 2021

Knowing God is knowing what God looks at when it comes to loving him.
He said this to Samuel.
1 Samuel 16: 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
Only God knows what the intention of people’s heart when they serve him, he knows if it is out of love for him.
He even looks at the heart when they pray to him as Jesus pointed out to his disciples when the Pharisee and the tax collector prayed to God.
Luke 18: 11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' 13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' 14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
God exalts those who seek him with a humble and contrite heart. God does not consider the appearance of things we do he looks at the heart of why we do it.
Jesus said true worshipers of God will worship him in spirit and in truth and not by appearance or posture because that is what man looks at.
Jesus said his Father rewards those who pray and give to him in secret, it is not for others to see.
Paul said true spiritual worship is being a living sacrifice. So, worshipping God is obeying what Jesus tells us to do with a humble and thankful heart which God sees.
Be true to Jesus always.
