The Bride of Christ

August 9, 2023

Malachi 2:14 teaches that godly children are raised when believing husbands and wives are one in flesh and in spirit.

Being one flesh is being faithful keeping the sexual union of marriage pure to each other.

Paul teaches how Husbands and wives remain faithful as one spirit.

Ephesians 5: 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Husbands and wives are faithful in one spirit when both submit to each other out deep respect for Jesus as their Lord.

Husbands and wives must heed Jesus’ warning not to call him Lord if they do not do what he teaches and commands.

Paul teaches how wives and husbands spiritually submits to each other in Christ.

Ephesians 5: 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Wives are one spirit with her husband when she submits to him as the leader of the family like the church submits to Jesus as its husband being it’s head.

Ephesians 5: 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- 30 for we are members of his body.

Husbands are one in spirit with his wife when they love her the way Jesus loved the church by giving his life to her, caring and protecting her by obeying the teachings of Jesus how to love her.

When husbands and wives are one in spirit they present the church as a radiant bride, holy and pure for her husband Jesus.

Ephesians 5: 31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." 32 This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

When husbands and wives submit to each other out of reverence for Jesus as their Lord they glorify Jesus in the church.

But when the husband is not a disciple of Jesus teaching and commandments, he will not know how lead his family and love his wife out of reverence to Jesus.

Just as the wife who is not a disciple of Jesus teachings and commandment will not know how to submit to their husband and love him as the head of the family out of reverence to her Lord Jesus.

Jesus will hold husbands responsible to be the spiritual leader of his family and his wife responsible to submit to her husband leadership when both have the anointing of the Holy Spirit’s teachings of God’s word.

In 1 Corinthians Paul warns against division in church by following their own desired leaders and not Jesus. This warning is also for husbands and wives who go to different churches and divided themselves in spirit to follow the leadership they like and not Jesus.

The church glorifies Jesus by having husbands and wives as one spirit in the same church body and not separating themselves going to different churches.

But if a spouse is not a true disciple and follower of Christ and chooses to be at a church where Jesus is not it’s head then the other spouse for their own salvation should remain where Jesus is the head of the church.

God sent his Son to give us eternal life and only those who want eternal life will know the voice of Jesus and obey him as their Lord and will see this in their church and only hear the voice of Jesus being taught so that the anointing of the Holy Spirit remains in them as their seal that guarantee their eternal inheritance.

Let us only hear the voice of Jesus in our church.

Your brother in Christ, Glenn
