When you hear a sermon and in that sermon the teacher uses personal self-analogy or examples from this world hoping you will recall a similar experience or example from this world to help you understand Jesus and God’s will what sense are you using to understand their teaching?

Your human or spiritual sense.

In John 6 63, Jesus said, “The Spirit gives life, the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”

To know if you understand Jesus and his Father’s will is through the Holy Spirit recalling the spiritual words of Jesus and his life example and that of his apostles.

If you cannot spiritually understand a sermon of Jesus and his apostle’s teachings and their life examples but need worldly examples to understand, you are using your human instincts and not the Holy Spirit to know Jesus and his Father’s will for you.

You will know it is the Holy Spirit teaching in you when you hear a teaching and recall it from your spirit knowledge of words and examples from the Bible.

You must put your complete trust in God’s word and not in your life and examples of this world, but only have the mind of Christ.
