Power of Christ in Church

March 29, 2021

Have you ever heard of the power of our Lord Jesus being in church?
What would that look like and how can you tell if his power was in church?
Is it even possible for his power to be in church?
How important would it be to have the power of Jesus in church?
Paul said this to the Corinthians church.
1 Corinthians 5: 4 When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
He tells us that 2 things are needed to have the power of our Lord Jesus present in church. He said the church needs to assemble in the name of our Lord Jesus and the spirit of the apostles must be with them when this is present in church the power of Jesus will also be present.
Being in the name of Jesus is to be completely soaked in him, its being baptized in Christ and that is knowing completely everything that is true to the name of Jesus from Scripture.
Having the spirit of the apostle with us is to hold on to their teaching just as Paul said in:
1 Corinthians 11: 2 “I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on to you.”
So, when the church assembles as one in the name of Jesus and holds on to the teaching of his apostles the power of Jesus is present.
What is the power of Jesus?
Jesus tells us in:
Matthew 18: 19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
Jesus said when 2 or 3 believers agree in what is true to his name, He will be there because they have the Holy Spirit in them revealing his Father’s will to them and when they persevere in obeying his will, they will receive whatever they ask.
Hebrews 10: 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Paul teaches what church must be doing to have the power of Jesus.
Ephesians 4: 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
When church strives together to reach unity in having the same faith and knowledge of Jesus by maturing in his word with the purpose of having the same mind of Christ the presence of Jesus power is present.
Paul tells us what happens to a church that is united with Christ.
Philippians 2: 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
It brought joy to Paul when the church was like-minded in Christ, having the same love for him, being one in spirit with the Holy Spirt and serving Jesus with the same purpose. A church that is like that will find encouragement, comfort, fellowship, tenderness and compassion and the power of Jesus will be present to answer their prayers.
Be safe in Jesus.
